Diwali – Celebrating the light

Sunday 19th October 10am -1230pm
At a Private venue (details sent on booking), Torquay, Devon

Diwali is a festival which symbolises the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, marked by lighting lamps, decorating homes, feasting, and exchanging gifts. This morning practice will embrace these principles and gift you a bag of goodies to take away and celebrate at home.

Practices will include gentle yoga asana (postures), yoga nidra (deep relaxation), breathwork (pranayama) and mantra (sound). We will chat about Diwali, this time of year and what it means for us individually as well as collectively to ‘bring in the light’.

What to expect

We will gather and practise gentle Yoga followed by some breathwork to centre and ground ourselves.
A deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra practice will then focus upon the inner light that we all have within.
We will then practice Trataka (candle gazing) meditation with a simple mantra.

Everyone will receive a goody bag containing gifts for a simple at home ritual on the main day of Diwali itself, which is Monday 20th October. It is traditional to make a simple mandala (symmetrical pattern) on the doorstep of the home and to place candles and flowers around this, so a pattern for this will also be shown.

Teas and traditional Indian sweets will be provided.

Cost and Booking

The cost for this morning workshop is £27.
This includes all practices, herbal teas and sweets plus your goody bag so you can celebrate at home.
